Don't get caught up in the Kindle Price War? Get a book for only $.99

If you haven't been keeping up with the news about Amazon, Google, Ipad, Ibook Store, and Apple, then you missed the war that had been started. What has the war been about? Many things, but at its core, about book publishers being able to set their own price, and raise prices from Amazon's $9.99 to a price of $14.99.

Amazon typicallically sets its price at $9.99 even for new bestsellers. Many times this policy allows them to sell it for a loss as they are mainly promoting their ebook reader, the Kindle. Well, the publishers would rather be selling books through Amazon on an agency model where they get to set their own price and get a percentage of of the sale.

Add in the factor that Apple anounced their Ipad and Ibook store which is set to compete on both fronts. The Ipad is at it's core, an ebook reader that will released to compete against the Kindle. The Ipad has many more great features to bring to the market, but as I said, at it's core and at the end of the day, it is there to take the market. I think it will. Plus in addition to this, Apple announces an Ibook store for books to be purchased through Itunes, well, an Ibook store needs content.

So Tired

I am so tired of playing around with web designs and themes...I just wish I would find something that I would like for the Festivals of Fright website and be done with it. Something for the header of this website, and be done with it.

But alas, I keep working at it. Instead of focusing on writing my next book or work on promoting my current book. No, stuck here in html and css world reading and manipulating code. My life is so glamorous.

In the world of Tech

I admit it. I'm a techie. In fact my day job has me spending the whole day working on computers. With that being said, I have always stayed away from using linux. I know that as a base it s a more secure operating system, but I like Windows and to keepfocused on that.

Well, I installed ubuntu Linux over the last couple of days and my first impressions are that I am not impressed. Yes, Mac Os is based off of it and you can tell. It looks like I am running mac os on my pc when I am not.

So will I make this my full time OS? No. In fact I am still fighting with it to get my wireless to work. I am having to blog this from my phone. Maybe given some time I will appreciate it more. After all, it is more secure right? Wait, I've never had a security problem on my windows...

Well,

Well, starting this week, now that a lot of projects are starting to calm down, I am going to try and get back into blogging.

Today has already started off on a good note as I have gotten two podcasts recorded to make up for the last two weeks that I didn't' get a chance to record a "Inside the Mirrors" podcast. Also, I am about to certify that a lot of the web design changes that I had wanted to make are about done. Now, my design changes in some of these sites had more to do with functionality. When it comes to graphics, I'm hoping to have some friends chip in on hat and help me out.

I want to get back to concentrating more on writing, and want to focus my attention now on getting second book done. I also want to continue the promotion for "Inside the Mirrors." which we might have some more details on that soon.

All in all, it should be a fun year. I will also be blogging about other things there as well. One thing many will find about me, is that I do a lot with Tech, so I will have to fight with myself not to make this into a Tech Blog. However, in starting my podcast network, one of the shows I eventually do want to launch is a tech show.

Weekend of change.

This weekend, I am going through many of the festivals websites. Many of them I am change over to an e107 system. If all goes well, we will be back up and running and I will be getting back to working on the new book.

Experimenting

I am experimenting with a new design. Right now I am playing around with it a little on the Indy Horror Film Festival site as well as on our Shriek Speak Radio site.

Black Friday Massacre

Hello everyone,

Later today I am going to be taking down the Black Friday Massacre short story. It is currently unfinished, but that is not why it is getting pulled. I have actually formed a greater plan for the story that I can not wait to unviel until later this year. It will be hard to resist the temptation.

In other news, Dark Arts Magazine has been pushed back until Feb. 27th.

Follow me on Twitter. I have recently become a Twitter addict.

Not Happy

I'm not happy with any of the site designs on any of the current Festivals of Fright sites, so I think I will soon be tearing them all down and starting anew.

More things to keep me from finishing my second novel, "Invisible Spiders."

What a Difference a Day can Make...

More like a week, but wow, what can change in just a week, couple weeks, and so on.

"Inside the Mirrors" is on Amazon in both a print and Kindle versions. Shriek Speak Radio, my weekly podcast is now in its third episode and is available on Itunes. Now, we have also added the Preface of "Inside the Mirrors" on Itunes. So if you would like to heard the beginning of "Inside the Mirrors," you can.

Also, make sure to subscribe to it, as the plan is to serialize Inside the Mirrors and weekly add more to it until the whole book will be available as podcasts. Then eventually as an audiobook.

Enjoy!
